This class combines ongoing creative expression with instruction in the the writing process steps. All reading and writing abilities are welcome as students may use words, pictures, or narration.
Each week students will learn something new such as the elements of a story; point of view; how to add detail; editing and editor's marks; and ways to publish their work. In addition, there will be “free creation” time each week allowing students to work at their own pace either with their own ideas or at the various centers throughout the room. These centers will reinforce the lesson or help generate creative ideas. A portfolio of student’s work will be collected throughout the class. The last week of this class, students will share their favorite work with the class and their families.
