Enhance your high school transcript by adding "lab" to your Chemistry course. This class will use microscale lab techniques to safely perform such classic labs as decomposition by electrolysis, chromatography, supercooling and qualitative analysis. We will also use models to explore atomic structure and stoichiometry. This is a high school level experience, so each week the students will be expected to come prepared for class by reading background information and the lab procedure. During class the students will complete the lab, analysis questions, and have open time to get help with problems from their text. Students will have the opportunity to complete one formal lab report. The labs will be presented in the order suggested for Apologia, but the complete list will be provided to correlate with other curriculums.

About the teacher: Nanette Blank has been homeschooling for 5 years. She completed her BS in Biology Education at Millersville University and MS in Instruction at Drexel. She has certification in secondary Biology, Mathematics, and Educational Technology, and private elementary. She currently works at a drop-out recovery school. But she also taught in Montessori and private school. When she began homeschooling, she realized that many families were challenged to provide hands-on science so she has drawn on her experience teaching science in small settings to provide labs for homeschool coop for the last couple years.

Classes for our home school students are designed as activities to
augment your home school program. They provide instruction, focus, guidance,
exploration, interaction, experiences, and a social opportunity. Parents are still responsible for
